Before becoming a part of the team in the Office of Leadership, Education, and Development, my knowledge of career readiness was primarily basic interview skills and a decent resume. On one of my first days in the office, I had to write a professional email to one of the office that we were to collaborate with. I was so lost! It seems like such a small task, but the content of one email can set the tone for the rest of the correspondence. As a Leadership Consultant, I have contacted fellow students, members of the executive boards of various student organizations, university professors, and other staff of university offices.

Being a part of the LEAD Team has also provided me with the experience of staff meetings. Although our meetings were typically casual and short, they provided me with the experience of how to properly conduct oneself in such a setting. We also held L-TEAM meetings dedicated solely to building skills and knowledge of Career Readiness among Mason students. At these meetings, we discussed elevator pitches, resumes, and networking.
