“O mankind, indeed We have created you from male and female and made you peoples and tribes that you may know one another.”

The Noble Qur’an 49:13

Being enrolled at one of the most ethnically diverse public universities in the state means always being enveloped by different languages, styles, and ways of being. This is one of the reasons I chose to attend George Mason University. Just walking to class, I have heard up to four different languages spoken before getting to my classroom. I’ve witnessed the celebration of Diwali, Holi, and other holidays on this campus.

George Mason is diverse not only in the ethnicity of its student body, but in other ways as well. In my three years here, I have met students of different national origins, abilities, citizenship status, first language, political ideology, and more.

As a Leadership Consultant, I facilitated workshops with the students of MasonLIFE and the Jewish Community Center. I even got to practice my foreign language skills with some of the 6th graders at Hampton Middle School.
